Kahn's concept on architecture concerning how light should effect the design inspires the combination of both open and closed sections in the station.
''The outside is for the sun and the inside is for living and work, the sanctity of the interior and the cool shadows should be protected by the building'' - Kahn

Kahn's concept of letting each space have its own shape and form inspires the columns on the open section of the light rail station. By repeating the same shape in different sizes, it creates an interesting pattern that reflects the dynamic life on a university campus.

Overall, Kahn's concept of 'function over form' is the main factor behind the design of this light rail station. Close to the ground, easily accessible and blending into the campus and road, the architecture is clear and concise, acknowledging functionality as a tram stop over extravagance in form.
