New Theory: ''Architecture dwells in its own heritage, thus, despite the shift in styles away from the past, true architectural evolution needs to draw upon tradition.''

First Plan Draft

As my theory is all about fusing various elements of modern and ancient architecture to create something different, I took inspiration from the outlandishly unique modern style of Zaha Hadid and the rigid beauty of ancient buildings such as the Parthenon, Villa Rotonda and the Pantheon.

Zaha Hadid: From observing these plans, I adopted her style of incorporating thin geometric forms to create space in tight fitting areas while also creating a sleek modern aesthetic. A parallel her architecture has with ancient architecture is that her plans are spanning wide horizontal distances, and thus I have also attempted to capture the essence of that form in my building.

Villa Rotonda: The architect of the Villa Rotonda, Andrea Palladio set out to design, in his eyes, 'the perfect home', a symmetrical house that adopts the style and lessons of antiquity that doesn't forsake the architect's unique style. This idea of incorporating the past into modern architecture is the foundation for my theory.

Piranesi:  The organisation of space and symmetrical forms that stem out from a central point interested me.

Pantheon + Parthenon: These two buildings are perhaps the most iconic pieces of  architecture from the antiquity period. The elements I have taken from these two buildings are the rigidity of form, the classical structures of columns and pediments and similar to the Villa Rotonda, the symmetry.

Vertical Bridge: Drawing inspiration from Villa Rotonda and Piranesi, a vertical column acts as the center point of my building and connects everything.

Plan: In the next phase of the draft, I combined the sharp geometrical forms inspired by Zaha Hadid's architecture in unison with the vertical bridge.

Elevation: Here the influence of ancient style architecture can be seen with the implementaion of the pediment and columns to add a new flavor onto the building.

Moving Part 1:

Since the building tries to keep some sort of classical aesthetic, a obvious and large moving part would disrupt the concept.

A shifting window tint as sunlight increases will be implemented in the windows so that students and lecturers can maintain concentration without disruption of excess sunlight.

Moving Part 2:

Moving Doors Animation.
As stated earlier, in order to not harm the classical exterior motif, the inside will simply contain sliding doors at these locations.
